Penetrations
Block Pens:
- Must be clean of dirt, sawdust etc.
- Spray the area with adhesive around the pen the spray must sit for 23 minutes to tack up before covering the pen.
- Membrane should be at least 6” around all 4 sides
- The membrane must be lipped on the penetration ifself in order to insure a proper seal.
- We DO NOT cover holes made in the wrong places by the MEP.
- Also do not to the pen if the whole in the block is more than a tennis size.
- The bottom piece of membrane must always be done first, then sides, top.
- Use the same seam tape as the housewrap paper used to run around the outer edge of the membrane,
Paper Pens:
- The housewrap on the wall must be cut back from the penetration at least 1” to expose the wood.
- always start from the bottom and work way up.
- the membrane/flex must be lipped on to the penetration to ensure proper sealing
- Remember: all pens must be rolled on with a j roller to ensure proper sealing.
- All penetrations in paper must use the FLIP method= cut the paper away from the peneatrion at least 1 inch to expose the wood- then make 2 diagnol cuts in the top and lift it up . (same as a window just smaller). attach the membrane, bottom side side top then lower the paper over the top membrane- cover the 2 cuts with the same material that was used on the penetration.
