2 Story – 2nd Trip

Material: Black fortiber paper, 6” straight flash,  head flashings for the top of the windows, Caulk.

  • Make sure all the windows have been taped/flashed by the window installers. Also that the dry wall window as been flipped and put in correctly.
  • First step: window flashing. The metal window flashing sits on top of the window and must extend over both ends by 1/2”.The window flashing MUST be under the flip of the paper at the top of the window.
  • Run a good bead of caulk on the backside of the piece of flashing and place it sitting on the top of the window frame with the ends equally overhanging. Place the nails equally apart to attach it, use your own judgement as to how many nails to use depending on the  width of the window.
  • Cover the flashing with membrane.
  • Lower the flap and put membrane over the 2 diagonal slits. The flashing itself now should be slightly angled away from the wall so rain runs out over the window glass.
  • Black paper attached in same fashion as in single stories.
  • Again all wood must be covered
  • Penetrations are the same as single stories.
